Mr Beam is a DIY laser cutter and engraver kit, inspired by other open source laser cutter projects, that offers a large working area while using an affordable laser diode. Instead of putting a workpiece inside the working area of the laser cutter, Mr Beam can be placed easily on top of large workpieces like a kitchen table or your wooden floor. The project was successfully crowdfunded on Kickstarter, where it raised more than $179.000, so almost 4 times more than the expected amount. All plans will be released under an open source license. The main goal of the project is to make laser cutters easy to use, affordable and enjoyable for everyone.
